TWO newly wed Christians are to devote the second year of their life together to help struggling families.
Ricky and Laura Moorhouse, of Southsea, are to spend 10 months in Uruguay helping to feed the hungry.
They will stay with families in the north western town of Salto, where they will work with fellow members of the South American Mission Society.
Mr and Mrs Moorhouse are members of St Luke's Church in Southsea and have been married since September. They are to fly out to Uruguay 12 months after taking their vows.
The couple are funding the trip themselves and need a total of £8,000. So far, they have raised £3,000. IBM computer specialist Mr Moorhouse, 22, said: 'we'll probably be working in a soup kitchen, a day centre and on a project which gives food to children as they come home from school. They probably wouldn't get anything when they get home so we will provide them with a snack.
'I feel that God wants us to go out there and help.'
The experience will form part of 21-year-old Mrs Moorhouse's Latin American degree course at the University of Portsmouth.
